Corporate Banking Trainee

The Commercial Banking Trainee will analyze commercial loan customers and real estate projects for financial and business risks, review balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, and assess industry and market risks. The role includes preparing credit memorandums, financial spreadsheets, relationship/profitability analysis, and supporting Relationship Managers.

The incumbent will complete an extensive two-year training program, including specialized external classroom training and on-the-job training with experienced bankers. This role works with business clients generating revenues of $2.5 to $100 million and/or real estate transactions with $1 to $15 million in credit exposure.

Responsibilities

• Analyze commercial loan customers and real estate projects for financial and business risks.
• Review balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Analyze industry and market risks.
• Prepare credit memorandums, financial spreadsheets, and relationship/profitability analysis.
• Support Relationship Managers with associated tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or equivalent work experience providing a basis for commercial loan underwriting and analysis.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting client financial statements and tax returns.
• Understanding of data in both personal and business credit bureaus.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in PC spreadsheet software.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring work visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Previous credit review or banking experience is preferred.

Schedule

40-hour work week, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. This position requires working in Wilmington, DE for the first 12-18 months of employment. Travel within the bank’s footprint or other offices may be required as needed.

Pay

Salary Range: $42,289.00 - $69,475.00. Individual base pay may vary based on experience, job-related skills, relevant education, geographic location, and other business and organizational needs. Eligible Associates may receive discretionary and formula-based incentive and retention awards.
