Corporate Banking Trainee

The Commercial Banking Trainee will analyze commercial loan customers and real estate projects for financial and business risks, review financial statements, assess industry and market risks, and prepare credit memorandums, financial spreadsheets, and relationship/profitability analyses. This role supports Relationship Managers and involves working with business clients with revenues of $2.5 to $100 million and/or real estate transactions from $1 to $15 million in credit exposure.
The incumbent will complete an extensive two-year training program, including specialized external classroom training and on-the-job training with experienced bankers. The position requires working in Wilmington, DE for the first 12-18 months, with potential travel within the bank’s footprint or other offices as needed.
Responsibilities
- Analyze commercial loan customers and real estate projects for financial and business risks.
- Review balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Assess industry and market risks.
- Prepare credit memorandums, financial spreadsheets, and relationship/profitability analyses.
- Support Relationship Managers with various tasks related to commercial lending.
- Complete a two-year training program, including classroom and on-the-job training.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business, or equivalent work experience providing a basis for commercial loan underwriting and analysis.
- Ability to review and interpret client financial statements and tax returns.
- Understanding of data in both personal and business credit bureaus.
- Strong analytical and PC spreadsheet skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States without requiring work visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Previous credit review or banking experience is preferred.
Pay
Salary Range: $42,289.00 - $69,475.00. Individual base pay may vary based on experience, skills, education, geographic location, and other business needs. Eligible Associates may also receive discretionary and formula-based incentive and retention awards.
