Corporate Attorney

About the role

Plastipak is seeking an experienced attorney for an in-house counsel position within our corporate Legal Department. In this role, you will draft and negotiate a variety of legal documents, conduct research on legal and business matters, provide general legal advice, and support additional projects as directed by the General Counsel and other senior managers.

Responsibilities

• Research and analyze legal matters relating to the business of the Company, including legislative and regulatory activity, major commercial and trade-related decisions, and industry trends and development.
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts and other legal documents, such as vendor and customer agreements, credit agreements, equipment leases, and other financing documents.
• Handle corporate governance and global compliance matters.
• Support M&A and other transactional projects.
• Provide counsel to management and other departments within the company.
• Coordinate with outside legal counsel on litigation and/or transactional matters.
• Represent the company as needed before court, tribunal, or administrative body.
• Perform other related activities as directed by Legal Department leadership.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active member of the State Bar of Michigan or another U.S. state bar (or eligibility for immediate admission).
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working for a law firm or in-house legal department, preferably with experience on commercial transactions and contracting in a manufacturing context.
• Proficiency in a foreign language and/or international experience are a plus.
