Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, validate revenue, and support budget and reporting activities.
- Oversight of key accounting areas including fixed assets for three corporate entities, retail business unit accounting, lease accounting in accordance with ASC 842, and the corporate gift card program.
- Collaborate with property teams, the People department, and the IT department to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to company policies.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of corporate fixed assets and depreciation. File annual property tax returns for all corporate offices.
- Manage the accounting of corporate retail activities across multiple retail entities (Shop Montage, Shop Pendry, PPC Retail Store and MI Retail).
- Ensure accurate recording of sales, cost of goods sold, inventory, and operating expenses.
- Manage the accounting and reporting of gift card liabilities, redemptions and breakage revenue. Reconcile gift card payments with bank deposits and the general ledger. Assist with gift card fulfillment as needed.
- Validate monthly management revenue and GMF revenue to ensure accuracy and alignment with contractual terms. Communicate variances to property teams in a clear and timely manner and follow-up as needed.
- Calculate Right-of-Use (ROU) assets and lease liabilities for new leases in accordance with ASC 842. Review lease terms, payment schedules and discount.
- Verify accuracy of annual budget file and prepare budget upload template.
- Aid in tracking Global & F&B Summit activities by accurately monitoring funding and actual expenditures.
- Support monthly and quarterly close processes, including preparing journal entries and performing balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Prepare quarter-end reporting and variance analyses for management.
- Conduct research and analysis into issues and questions raised by leadership to inform decision-making.
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with business partners and internal team to better anticipate challenges, seek out process efficiencies, and understand changes in a growing business.
- Provide support on ad hoc projects and initiatives as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- Experience performing month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with systems and reporting: Great Plains, TM1 and Cognos Analytics.
- Expert in Microsoft Excel and data mining/analysis.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to prioritize and be flexible in a fast-paced environment with changing demands.
- Self-motivated and detail oriented; a problem solver.
- Quick learner with the ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrated commitment to maintain high level of confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Must be able to sit at a desk for up to five (5) hours per day.
- Walking and standing are required, and length of time may vary.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and subordinates; use of these senses will occur on a constant basis.
- Grasping, holding, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending over.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
