The Pokémon Company International manages the Pokémon property outside of Asia and is responsible for brand management, licensing and marketing, the Pokémon Trading Card Game, the animated TV series, home entertainment, and the official Pokémon website.
Job Summary
The Corporate Accountant will support month‑end close coordination, cross‑functional collaboration, and process improvement initiatives to help ensure a timely and accurate financial close. As a member of the General Accounting team, this position will also support fixed asset, lease, SG&A, and cash management accounting activities. This role is classified as Exempt and does not manage people.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and help drive the month‑end close process across Accounting and Finance to support a sustainable five‑day close, including facilitating close activities, monitoring progress, resolving issues, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
- Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses to ensure accurate, complete, and GAAP‑compliant financial reporting.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance, and other cross‑functional teams to improve processes that impact the accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of the financial close.
- Lead process improvement initiatives focused on reducing manual effort, increasing scalability, enhancing reporting, and strengthening accounting operations.
- Support the administration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of accounting systems, close management tools, and reconciliation applications.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, process documentation, and reconciliation methodologies to support strong controls and operational excellence.
- Support internal and external audits and serve as a trusted business partner across the Accounting and Finance organizations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant professional experience or a demonstrated equivalent level of expertise supporting and coordinating month‑end close processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proven ability to independently manage accounting processes, priorities, and deadlines while balancing recurring responsibilities with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience building partnerships and influencing cross‑functional stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex accounting issues.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and/or public accounting experience.
- Accounting systems experience in Oracle Fusion, ARCS, EPM, FCCS, and Crunchafi.
- Experience with data analytics, automation, AI‑enabled business processes, or reporting optimization.
Pay
Base Salary Range: $85,000 – $113,000 per year (full range $85,000 – $153,000 per year). Final salary is based on the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience.
