Corporate Accountant

About the role
Our client, a Colorado-based real estate development and property management firm, is seeking a Corporate Accountant to support general ledger accounting across multiple entities and properties. This role will serve as a key partner to the CFO, with responsibility for month-end close support, intercompany accounting, payroll accounting, and accounts payable oversight. This is a hands-on accounting position for someone who enjoys being a reliable point contact, maintaining accuracy, and collaborating across teams. The company is also evolving its accounting systems, providing an opportunity to contribute to process improvements and potential ERP enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Partner with the CFO on month-end close activities across multiple entities
- Prepare and post monthly journal entries
- Perform balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations
- Generate management, development, and construction fee invoices
- Prepare reimbursable expense invoices and supporting schedules
- Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects
- Perform the general ledger accounting for payroll and benefits
- Prepare payroll-related invoices, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
- Analyze payroll and benefits accounts and resolve variances
- Collaborate with Human Resources on payroll and benefits-related accounting matters
- Serve as a backup for payroll processing as needed
- Review and approve A/P coding for corporate invoices
- Partner with Accounts Payable on expense classification and reconciliations
- Manage corporate cash activity and prepare corporate bank reconciliations
- Administer corporate credit card and expense reporting processes
- Work within existing accounting systems and participate in ongoing system enhancements
- Support the continued implementation and optimization of expense management systems
- Collaborate with property managers and internal teams on accounting and expense-related questions
- Assist with system-related process improvements and documentation

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
- 3-5+ years of general ledger accounting experience, preferably within real estate development or property management
- Experience with payroll and benefits accounting, including general ledger accounting and analysis
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including reconciliations, analysis, pivot tables, and lookups
- Experience with MRI and/or Yardi strongly preferred
- Experience with Concur or similar expense management platforms is a plus
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams

Pay
The estimated annual compensation for this position is $90,000-$110,000 annually, with discretionary bonus potential.
