About the role
The Cornell Global AI Initiative at Cornell University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to support research and program development at the intersection of AI, society, and global communities. The position is based in the Bowers College of Computing and Information Science and will be supervised by Prof. Aditya Vashistha.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to research on topics such as Human-Centered AI, Community-Centered AI, Responsible AI, AI and Culture, and AI Safety
- Develop independent research projects aligned with the goals of the Cornell Global AI Initiative
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to study how AI systems interact with culture, institutions, and social inequalities around the world
- Engage with underserved communities to understand the impacts of AI technologies
Requirements
- A PhD in HCI, AI, NLP, Information Science, Computer Science, or a closely related field
- A strong research record, including publications in top-tier HCI, AI, or interdisciplinary venues
- Experience conducting research in global environments and/or engaging underserved communities
Qualifications
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
