Job Summary

Cornell College invites applications for an instructor to teach the English Training Ability (Second Year English) course at Beihua University in Jilin, China. The position supports a partnership between Cornell College and the Communication Engineering department of Beihua University.

About the Role

This course is part of a total of 15 courses taught by Cornell College faculty and other instructors on the Beihua University campus. Courses are taught in English with a translator present to aid in communication. The position is expected to last four weeks, typically between September and December, with flexible scheduling options.

Responsibilities

  • Teach an intensive four-week segment of the English Training Ability (Second Year English) course to Communication Engineering students at Beihua University.
  • Teach four sections of the course concurrently, with each section meeting for 45 minutes every weekday.
  • Teach in English with the assistance of a translator in the classroom.
  • Support a partnership between Cornell College and Beihua University's Communication Engineering department.

Requirements

  • Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Experience with teaching English as a Second Language preferred.
  • Candidates with ABD status or significant professional experience in related fields will also be considered seriously.
  • Excellent spoken English proficiency required.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a related field.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Experience teaching in a foreign country or similar setting.
