About the Role

The Supervisor, Laboratory Technical is a leader and part of the provider care team who assists with diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patient conditions through technical and scientific knowledge. This position ensures accurate, precise, and timely performance of laboratory tests. Medical Technologists/Medical Laboratory Scientists evaluate and report test results while ensuring compliance and meeting all regulatory requirements consistent with a World Class Laboratory.

The Laboratory Supervisor performs Human Resources functions, including scheduling and job performance reviews, and exhibits excellent customer service skills in line with Mercy Signature Service in all internal and external customer interactions. Mercy Leaders are required to exhibit Mercy Leadership Attributes and perform duties in a manner consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accurate, precise, and timely performance of laboratory tests.
  • Evaluate and report test results while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform Human Resources functions, including scheduling and job performance reviews.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service in all internal and external interactions.
  • Demonstrate Mercy Leadership Attributes in daily responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate degree and meets the qualifications of Mercy Lab MTI or higher job description.
  • 3 years of acceptable clinical laboratory experience as a certified MT or MLT, or successful completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course.
  • Current certification as a medical technologist/medical laboratory scientist, categorical MT/MLS, or medical laboratory technician (MLT) through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent.
    • If ASCP certification was achieved after January 1, 2004, continuing certification maintenance must be documented.
  • Completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course and three years of acceptable clinical laboratory experience (alternative pathway).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • MT/MLS certification or equivalent.
