Core Lab Coordinator

Description

Prepares, logs, sorts, and/or delivers specimens to appropriate lab testing area. Performs data entry responsibilities.

The Core Lab Coordinator is involved in more complex processing which could include, but not limited to Microbiology processing, frozen splits, send-outs, Cytology processing, etc. Specific functions will require additional access in the laboratory computer system.

• Collaborates and communicates with departmental and system-wide staff, supervisory and management personnel, physicians, patients, and with various outside referral representatives to facilitate timely and effective actions and decisions.
• Operates and/or maintains departmental equipment and work areas.
• Performs laboratory tests and procedures as required.

Responsibilities

• Creates and coordinates phlebotomy communications for day-to-day operations.
• Adds-on for Chemistry testing.
• Coordinates the send-out area for reference lab testing.
• Specimen processing.
• Performs other duties as requested.

Requirements

• Associates Degree in a Science related field.
• Registry (or eligibility) as a phlebotomist or Science related field.
• Specialty Certification preferred.
• 1 year of health care experience.
