Core Bench-Traveling Release of Information Specialist II

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Process medical ROI requests in a timely and efficient manner
  • Process requests utilizing Verisma software applications
  • Travel to client locations for coverage, as needed
  • Support the resolution of HIPAA-related release issues
  • Organize records and documents to complete the ROI process
  • Read and interpret medical records, forms, and authorizations
  • Maintain high standards of production, efficiency, and accuracy meeting company standards and performance metrics
  • Prioritize workload effectively and work independently while meeting productivity goals
  • Provide exemplary customer service in person, on the phone and via email, depending on location requirements
  • Achieve a solid understanding of client-specific expectations across multiple accounts while ensuring compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, state regulations, and company policies
  • Utilize Verisma’s reference materials and compliance guidelines to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all tasks
  • Assist with training and mentoring new associates, as needed, ensuring knowledge transfer and consistency in processes
  • Interact with customers and co-workers in a professional and friendly manner onsite and remotely
  • Utilize reference material provided by Verisma to ensure compliance and confidentiality is always maintained
  • Attend training sessions, as required
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, to ensure effective operation of the department and the Company

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent, required; some college preferred
  • RHIT certification, preferred
  • At least 4 years of experience within healthcare setting and medical records
  • Must be able to maintain all necessary background checks, drug screenings, health screenings and access requirements to serve on the Bench
  • Clean driving record with valid insurance
  • Experience with clerical and general office equipment including desktop computer, scanner, Microsoft Office Suite to complete tasks
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and state regulations related to the release of Protected Health Information, required
  • Ability to work independently and be detail oriented
