Location: New York, United States | Full-time | Salary: $66,000–$73,000 per year

About the role

The New Republic is looking for an experienced full-time copy editor to edit The TNR Blue Book, our new morning newsletter devoted to covering Democrats and progressive groups, and other editorial newsletters, while supporting our current copy editor on NewRepublic.com as needed.

Responsibilities

• Edit The TNR Blue Book, Fighting Words, Power Mad, and other editorial newsletters
• Support copy editing for NewRepublic.com as needed
• Perform basic fact-checking
• Maintain and update TNR’s style guide, including AP style changes, and communicate updates to staff
• Manage newsletter production and distribution to subscribers using third-party applications
• Prioritize assignments and manage schedule efficiently

Requirements

• At least seven years of copyediting experience, preferably at a news website or magazine
• Familiarity with AP style
• Comfort learning third-party applications and building editorial newsletters
• Strong attention to detail and ability to pivot between newsletter production, marketing emails, and news editing
• Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
