About the role
The New Republic is looking for an experienced full-time copy editor to edit The TNR Blue Book, our new morning newsletter devoted to covering Democrats and progressive groups, and other editorial newsletters, while supporting our current copy editor on NewRepublic.com as needed.
Responsibilities
- Edit The TNR Blue Book, Fighting Words, Power Mad, and other editorial newsletters.
- Support the current copy editor on NewRepublic.com as needed.
- Perform basic fact-checking.
- Maintain and update TNR’s style guide, ensuring alignment with AP style and communicating changes to staff.
- Build and manage editorial newsletters using third-party applications.
- Oversee newsletter production and distribution to subscribers.
- Prioritize assignments and manage workflow efficiently.
Requirements
- At least seven years of copyediting experience, preferably at a news website or magazine.
- Familiarity with AP style and experience maintaining a house style guide.
- Comfort with learning third-party applications for newsletter production and distribution.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m.
