About the Role
A successful Packager prepares product for shipment both manually and via electric powered industrial equipment with lifting devices, such as motorized pallet jack and/or reach truck. Packagers prepare and package customer product in a safe and efficient manner while following the instructions of the Line Lead and Quality Lead. The role involves adhering to corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and reporting any noncompliance. Candidates will observe all company safety rules and assist in their enforcement as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Perform operations and safety checks on equipment prior to use, using a checklist, and sign off to certify equipment safety or report variances.
- Safely operate all equipment in the assigned area, including powered industrial equipment.
- Use pick sheets, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or facility WMS acquisition devices to determine items for movement, gathering, or distribution from temperature-controlled or non-controlled rooms.
- Remove product to be shipped from designated pick locations by hand or powered industrial equipment.
- Select product using WMS according to predetermined sequences such as product code, expiration date (FIFO where required), and other requirements.
- Place orders on pallets or transport them to packing, wrapping, or shipping stations by hand or powered industrial equipment.
- Mark product with proper identifying information and compile tally sheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Count product and record amounts for shipment verification, ensuring zero over/short.
- Replenish pick locations from stock by hand or powered industrial equipment.
- Change powered industrial truck batteries.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area by practicing "clean as you go" housekeeping.
- Follow corporate and site-specific Good Manufacturing Practices and report noncompliance.
- Observe and enforce all company safety rules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a varied, fast-paced environment.
- Capability to lift and move 50+ lbs.
- Ability to sit, walk, or stand for long periods of time.
- Adherence to all PPE standards in the distribution center (e.g., steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, safety vest, or other standards provided by site leadership).
Schedule
Monday to Thursday (Friday/Saturday overtime as needed). Hours: 4:00 PM – 2:30 AM.
Pay
$17.00 per hour plus a $0.50 shift differential.
