Coordinator/Virtual Career Development

About the Role

The Coordinator for Virtual Career Development is an integral member of the Office of Career Education (OCE). OCE supports the retention, graduation, and career success of Marshall University undergraduate and graduate students and alumni by providing holistic, inclusive, and impactful career education services and programs. This position focuses on the career and professional development of students, with an emphasis on career readiness, virtual learning, and the development of professional competencies through innovative and accessible educational experiences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates across the university to advance strategic initiatives that enhance student engagement and career success in both virtual and in-person environments.
• Reports to the Assistant Director of Marketing and Student Engagement.
• Based on campus, with occasional evening and weekend programming required.
• Uses multiple service delivery modalities, including virtual and in-person formats.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Human Resource Development, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Student Development, Social Work, Counseling, Workforce Development, or related fields.
• One year of higher education experience in career development, instructional design, counseling, human services, or other related fields.
• Proficiency in the use of technology, e.g., Handshake, Navigate, Blackboard, and MS Office software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong presentation skills with experience creating and conducting in-person and virtual presentations, workshops, or small groups tailored to specific audiences.
• Experience advising, coaching, or counseling students pursuing competitive majors and career goals.

Pay

$44,918-$58,939 (commensurate with education, experience and internal equity).

Schedule

• Full-time, 37.5 hours per week.
• 13 Paid Holidays.
• Almost two weeks off for Winter Break in December.
• Annual leave: up to 24 days per year (max 360 hours) for Classified Staff, Non-Classified Staff and 12-month Faculty.
• Sick leave: up to 18 days per year.
