About the role

The RN Reentry Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the RN Reentry Program administered by Foothills Area Health Education Center (AHEC). The role involves assisting nurses in reinstating their licensure with the Georgia Board of Nursing by guiding candidates through the didactic and clinical requirements of the program, including securing clinical sites and preceptors.

Responsibilities

  • Interview candidates for appropriateness for the RN Reentry Program.
  • Educate the applicant on the requirements of the program and the requirements of the Georgia Board of Nursing.
  • Absorb the applicant to the program and locate clinical placement for the required clinical hours.
  • Communicate with the clinical facility to initiate an agreement if needed.
  • Work with the clinical facility to coordinate the preceptor and educate the preceptor on their requirements for a clinical rotation with a reentry nurse.
  • Maintain oversight of the requirements for both the Educational Center and the specific clinical site.
  • Submit a proposal to the Georgia Board of Nursing that includes specific learning objectives for the applicants' specific clinical setting.
  • Complete all Form A and Form B at the appropriate time and submit them to the Board of Nursing.
  • Monitor the administration of the forty hours of didactic for continuing education hours, grade and review the corrections with the reentry applicant, and submit required paperwork for the continuing hours certificate.
  • Coordinate the clinical with the identified preceptor and communicate with the preceptor on the requirements and the progress of the reentry nurse.
  • Review all clinical paperwork to ensure the requirements have been met and submit the final paperwork to the Board of Nursing.

Requirements

  • Licensure or other certifications: Current licensure as a RN in the State of GA.
  • Education: Required - a degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Experience: Registered nurse in the state of Georgia for a minimum of two years of active licensure.

  • Must have the ability to work with a variety of personalities, ages, and diverse ethnic cultures in a professional manner.
