Coordinator - Patient Registration - St. John Emergency Department - Full-Time - Midnights

Schedule

• Full-Time (40 hours per week)
• Every other weekend and holiday rotation
• Shift: Midnights 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

About the role

Under minimal supervision, directs and coordinates the activities of all Patient Registration areas to provide prompt and accurate scheduling and registration of patients, insurance verification, billing, collections, cash posting, and payer compliance. Protects the integrity of the hospital accounts receivable and respects the privacy of patients. Assists Leadership with interviewing new hires and orienting and providing training to all employees.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate activities of Patient Registration areas
• Ensure prompt and accurate scheduling and registration of patients
• Perform insurance verification, billing, collections, and cash posting
• Maintain payer compliance and protect hospital accounts receivable
• Respect patient privacy
• Assist with interviewing, orienting, and training new employees
• Provide constructive coaching and feedback to co-workers
• Influence others to achieve team goals and foster cooperation

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (required)
• Associate’s degree (preferred)
• Three years of experience in patient admitting, registration, and/or insurance eligibility and verification in a hospital or medical office setting (required)
• Revenue Cycle super-users and subject matter experts
• Strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Experience as a Patient Service Representative (preferred)
