About the Role
We are committed to building the best primary care environment for patients and are seeking healthcare enthusiasts to join us as a Patient Enrollment Coordinator. This role is responsible for improving Cano’s enrollment growth objectives by discussing enrollment and eligibility options with members and non-members, guiding them through the insurance or cash pay process, and facilitating membership enrollment or credit applications.
Responsibilities
- Professionally represent Cano Health and provide center tours.
- Serve as an expert on Cano’s services and products.
- Identify prospects/members’ needs, answer questions related to healthcare access and Cano service offerings, discuss cost of service (if needed), and facilitate enrollment into health plans or payment plans.
- Assist patients with credit applications, if applicable.
- Collaborate and maintain healthy relationships with health plan agents and brokers.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual enrollment goals and growth targets as established by management.
- Verify insurance and benefit coverage for all patient insurance plans for each service provided.
- Maintain communication and follow up with current members to ensure no loss of benefit coverage.
- Collaborate with Community Outreach associates on center and community activities/events as needed.
- Regularly generate and submit reports on new enrollment for insured/cash pay members.
- Deliver presentations, attend meetings, and distribute educational materials to members and potential members.
- Maintain a positive, courteous, and professional demeanor.
- Manage adequate supplies, equipment, and materials (e.g., informational material, promotional items).
- Work with little (indirect) supervision to achieve goals and objectives.
- Communicate with fellow associates to identify areas of opportunity to enhance membership growth.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience (e.g., marketing, business development, community engagement, healthcare industry).
- Exceptional networking and negotiation skills.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with little supervision.
- Highly detail-oriented with outstanding customer service skills.
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Skills
- Fluent in English and the primary language of the target population (e.g., Spanish).
- IT proficiency with electronic medical records (preferably eCW), health plan portals, and IT systems (Care Credit and Microsoft products including SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Understanding of Medicaid and Medicare (including healthcare markets).
- Sales and marketing experience highly preferred.
- Previous healthcare marketing, enrollment, and/or grassroots/community outreach experience a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Works under usual office conditions, with extended periods at a personal computer and on the phone.
- Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and occasionally climb.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work extended and flexible hours, including weekends as needed.
Work Conditions
- Some driving/traveling to assigned clinics (0-25% travel).
- Tools and equipment used include computers and peripherals, standard and customized software applications, and usual office equipment.
