About the Role
The Patient Enrollment Coordinator is responsible for improving Cano’s enrollment growth objectives by discussing enrollment and eligibility options with members and non-members. This role requires fluency with various payor sources (Medicare, HMOs, Medicaid, etc.) for primary care and physiotherapy services. The coordinator guides patients and prospective patients through the insurance or cash-pay process, explains payment plan options, and assists with membership enrollment or credit applications.
Responsibilities
- Professionally represent Cano Health and provide center tours.
- Serve as an expert on Cano’s services and products.
- Identify prospects’ or members’ needs, answer questions about healthcare access and Cano’s offerings, discuss costs (if needed), and facilitate enrollment into health plans or payment plans.
- Assist patients with credit applications, if applicable.
- Collaborate and maintain relationships with health plan agents and brokers.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual enrollment goals and growth targets set by management.
- Verify insurance and benefit coverage for all patient insurance plans for each service provided.
- Maintain communication and follow up with current members to prevent loss of benefit coverage.
- Collaborate with Community Outreach associates on center and community events.
- Generate and submit reports on new enrollment for insured and cash-pay members.
- Deliver presentations, attend meetings, and distribute educational materials to members and potential members.
- Remain positive, courteous, and professional at all times.
- Maintain adequate supplies, equipment, and informational materials.
- Work with minimal supervision to achieve goals and objectives.
- Communicate with associates to identify opportunities for membership growth.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience (e.g., marketing, business development, community engagement, healthcare industry).
- Exceptional networking and negotiation skills.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
- Highly detail-oriented with outstanding customer service skills.
- Ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
- Ability to anticipate project needs, discern priorities, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Skills
- Fluent in English and the primary language of the target population (e.g., Spanish).
- Proficient with electronic medical records (preferably eCW), health plan portals, and IT systems (Care Credit, Microsoft products including SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, and healthcare markets.
- Sales and marketing experience highly preferred.
- Previous healthcare marketing, enrollment, or grassroots/community outreach experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Works under usual office conditions, with extended periods of computer and phone use.
- Must be able to stand, sit, walk, and occasionally climb.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- May require extended or flexible hours, including weekends.
Travel Requirements
0-25% travel may be required, including driving to assigned clinics.
