Schedule: Monday – Friday, 27.5 hours per week
Reports to: Pastor

Summary

The Life-Teen and Edge Coordinator (Youth Ministry) is responsible for all high school and middle school youth ministry programs, including Life-Teen (High School), EDGE Curriculum (Middle School), and Teen ACTS (High School). This position performs all basic administrative programs related to the Faith Formation program, maintains files and records of all students and sacraments, and monitors the budgetary cost centers for each program. The coordinator connects parents and families in the program to the larger parish community and fosters collaboration with parish ministries and St. Luke School.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes, schedules, and coordinates faith formation for Edge, Life-Teen, and Teen ACTS.
  • Prepares and schedules sacramental programs and liturgies.
  • Assists with Faith Formation registrations.
  • Recruits and coordinates with adult catechists for EDGE, Life Teen, and Teen ACTS.
  • Serves as Virtus Facilitator, ensuring all Youth Ministry volunteers are Virtus compliant and coordinates training, including for teens who turn 18 while in the program.
  • Orders, assists, and monitors textbooks, teaching materials, and resources for the program.
  • Prepares or offers input on an annual budget and monthly grade-level activities and updates for all programs.
  • Prepares or assists with a yearly calendar for the program and Faith Formation Commission and assists in compiling the yearly parish master calendar.
  • Supports and endorses Archdiocesan, pastoral council, and faith formation commission policies.
  • Supervises assigned grade levels or groups in the Faith Formation program.
  • Recruits or assists with eliciting catechists and volunteers for assigned levels or groups.
  • Supervises or assists with appropriate in-service training and formation of catechists.
  • Advises and visits with students, parents/guardians, and catechists if problems or concerns arise.
  • Prepares or assists with liturgical celebrations for students and families.
  • Coordinates sacramental rites for students with the pastor/pastoral administrator.
  • Collaborates with pastoral staff to integrate the total faith formation plan for the parish.
  • Meets monthly with pastoral staff for planning and integration of Religious Education programs with whole parish programs.
  • Coordinates preparation of the weekly bulletin section for Junior High and High School Faith Formation.
  • Maintains constant communication with Faith Formation families and tracks service hours for teen volunteers.
  • Develops and implements supplemental programs such as Summer Youth Fellowship.
  • Collaborates with other Youth Ministries to develop enrichment programs for teens, such as a local Youth Leadership Conference.
  • Prepares and presents catechist retreats and training for all Youth Ministry catechists.
  • Maintains and assists with sacramental records, notifications, and certificates per Diocese guidelines.
  • Serves as a member of ACTS Core as a representative of Teen ACTS and Youth Ministry per ACTS Missions guidelines.
  • Coordinates and oversees the Teen ACTS Retreat and planning meetings, including scheduling venues and events.
  • Leads the Teen ACTS Adult volunteers group and ensures participation in Teen ACTS adult training.
  • Works with Teen ACTS adults to select directors and teen leaders for the retreat.
  • Oversees teen leaders with the ACTS Core as they prepare for the retreat and attends and oversees the Teen ACTS retreat.
  • Assists with Archdiocesan Appeal, Capital Campaign, and other major parish fundraisers.
  • Attends monthly Parish staff meetings and other meetings assigned by the pastor.
  • Registers youth ministry participants and volunteers in ParishSOFT Family Suite in their appropriate classes.
  • Maintains continuous education and training in the faith.
  • Adheres to Archdiocese Code of Conduct and safe environment mandates.

Requirements

  • Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community (or willing to function in a manner consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church).
  • Undergraduate work in Theology, Catechesis, or extensive parish experience as a Youth Minister.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
  • Three years of parish and/or administrative office experience.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of staff and management.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to compose correspondence, minutes, and/or reports.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • At least one year of experience working with volunteers.
  • Experience in marketing, non-profit, and/or networking.
  • Proven ability to accept feedback and adapt approach with volunteers as needed.
  • Ability to be innovative and generate ideas that work with ever-changing community needs.
  • Ability to cooperate as a team member and produce in a results-driven environment.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and handle pressure well.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently lifts 10-25 pounds.
  • Constant movement at times.

Travel Requirements

  • 10% local travel and 5% overnight travel.
  • Travel for Life Teen retreat in November via charter bus.
