About the role

The Coordinator of Charter School Oversight plays a crucial role in overseeing and authorizing charters within East Side Union High School District. This position ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and guides the development and implementation of the charter's academic program.

Responsibilities

  • Affirm that all East Side Union High School District charters adhere to local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Interpret and apply educational policies and procedures related to charter authorization, monitoring, and renewal processes.
  • Monitor the development and implementation of the charter’s academic program as outlined in the charter petition.
  • Provide technical expertise, information, and assistance to the Director of Assessment and Accountability regarding charter activities.
  • Assist in the formulation and development of policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Recommend proper organizational structures for assigned programs and functions.
  • Coordinate the evaluation of both renewal and new charter petitions, as well as annual monitoring.
  • Serve as the liaison between the district and district charter schools.
  • Establish, maintain, and monitor a Memorandum of Understanding with each district charter.

Requirements

  • Valid California Administrative Services credential.
  • Valid California Single Subject teaching credential.
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of secondary teaching experience.
  • Administrative or supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of principles, methods, techniques, and strategies of organization, management, and supervision.
  • Knowledge of law, policies, and regulations pertaining to charter schools.
  • Ability to assure the East Side Union High School District charters are implementing all local, state, and federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Ability to interpret and apply educational policies and procedures.
  • Ability to provide guidance in the development, monitoring, and implementation of the charter’s academic program as outlined in the charter petition.
  • Ability to coordinate the evaluation of both renewal and new charter petitions.
  • Ability to establish consortia with district charter schools and district schools focused on research-based practices.
  • Ability to serve as liaison between the district and district charter schools.
  • Ability to establish, maintain, and monitor a Memorandum of Understanding with each district charter.
  • Bilingual candidates preferred.
