Responsibilities
- Supervise and train peer mentors to ensure timeliness and participation in meetings and events
- Encourage mentors to build relationships with students through social events, workshops, and individual meetings with students
- Support mentors in their own development through training and filtered opportunities to build their resumes
- Cook up workshops for the mentors to present on subjects such as study skills to assist at-risk students to be better prepared for courses
- Organize and attend social events for the program
- Build relationships with other success offices on campus such as Career Discovery and Admissions to connect students with mentorship opportunities for educational and career success
- Collaborate and refer students to various student support resources (e.g., academic advising, disability services, counseling, etc.) and academic departments (i.e., faculty)
- Monitor student progress through early alert program and midterm grade tracking
- Compile mentor program participation data for biannual reports to the State Council of Higher Education
- Work with the Office of Financial Aid to ensure the list of students in the program is accurate and aligns with program aims
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with high school or college students in an educational setting
- Valid Driver's License
