Coordinator for Oak Lane, Fraternity and Sorority Life
About the role
We seek a Coordinator for Fraternity & Sorority Housing to join our Fraternity and Sorority Life team in Blacksburg, VA, to help us in our mission.
The Coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Housing works in the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, providing leadership for the Oak Lane residential community and serving as a key partner in supporting student well-being, organizational success, and the fraternity and sorority experience.
The role maintains strong working relationships with Housing, Residential Well Being, Facilities and Operations, Services for Students with Disabilities, chapter advisors, house corporations, and inter/national headquarters to ensure coordinated support and a consistent on-campus residential experience.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of occupancy management for Oak Lane, including housing applications, assignments, cancellations, billing, and roster processes.
- Serve as a chapter coach to a portfolio of fraternities and sororities across all four councils, supporting chapter officers, advisors, alumni, parents, and national partners, and assisting with organizational conduct matters in partnership with Fraternity and Sorority Life and Student Conduct.
- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate a team of 19 undergraduate House Supervisors and, if available, a Graduate Assistant.
- Support case management and well-being initiatives and contribute to the annual residential life cycle, including community-building efforts and building openings and closings.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, Counseling or related field.
- Professional experience in fraternity and sorority life, including advising, coaching, or supporting Greek-letter organizations.
- Experience with residential or housing operations such as occupancy management, assignment, or community operations.
- Experience supporting student well-being including case management collaboration, crisis response, or student support services.
- Supervisory experience overseeing different levels of employees.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative partnerships with a wide range of campus stakeholders.
- Demonstrated strong administrative and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, Counseling or related field.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, Counseling or related field preferred.
- Experience with training, teaching, and leadership development preferred.
- Knowledge of the university’s student conduct regarding the Greek community preferred.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and StarRez software.
