About the Opportunity
The Coordinator, Care Access plays a crucial non-clinical support role to ensure timely and efficient access to critical behavioral health services. This position facilitates seamless coordination among members, healthcare providers, and internal clinical teams by managing administrative processes, supporting daily clinical operations, and delivering highly responsive customer service. The role contributes directly to the organization by maintaining accurate workflows and supporting essential care continuity.
Responsibilities
- Process medical authorizations, review utilization details, and systematically manage documentation across multiple healthcare systems
- Support ongoing clinical operations through professional correspondence generation and meticulous digital record maintenance
- Respond to inbound member and provider inquiries regarding coverage benefits, active authorizations, and specialist referrals
- Verify member identity, coverage status, and eligibility data in strict compliance with federal HIPAA standards
- Provide empathetic, patient-centric communication and immediately escalate high-risk or crisis situations to licensed clinical staff
- Triage incoming cases accurately and route them to the appropriate regional clinical teams or care managers
- Collect, organize, and share key health data to support long-term continuity of care and cross-functional team collaboration
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related healthcare field paired with a minimum of one (1) year of relevant professional experience; or a High School Diploma/GED paired with three (3) or more years of relevant administrative healthcare experience
- Strong computer literacy with a proven ability to navigate multiple complex database systems and input data with high accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively, including simultaneous talking and typing during live member or provider phone interactions
- Ability to successfully pass comprehensive background check procedures and mandatory drug screening protocols
- Prior professional experience working within a behavioral health facility, medical call center, or health insurance environment
- Foundational knowledge of medical terminology, health insurance claims processing, or utilization management workflows
Pay Range and Compensation Package
Target baseline hourly compensation framework: $20.50 to $21.35 USD per hour. Final hourly positioning within this tier is calibrated dynamically based upon the candidate's education level, system certifications, relative industry experience, and localized market metrics. Compensation structure includes eligibility for an annual performance-based discretionary incentive bonus.
