Essential Duties/ Responsibilities
- Captures and coordinates shop repair work and resources to ensure timely return to service
- Collaborates with Engineering, Supervisors, Dept. Heads, and Suppliers to create traveler packets for work from quote to delivery
- Ensures all maintenance work is planned and job packages include time estimates, skills requirements, materials, drawings, safety information, procedures, specifications, etc.
- Facilitates job package library, enhancing packages with crew and supervisor feedback
- Ensures compliance with all applicable QA/QC requirements
- Maintains high standards of business conduct, discipline, and ethical behavior
- Develops, implements, and maintains policies, objectives, short and long-range planning
- Engages in effective problem-solving and collaboration with all employees
Knowledge and Skills
- Thorough understanding of safety procedures and their integration into work management, including LOTO, hot work, and barricades
- Strong troubleshooting abilities related to materials or products
- Expert knowledge of work management processes and procurement processes (SAP preferred)
- Solid ability to write and organize technical work packages
- Experience in contractor management and control, including job scopes, site training, notification letters, and site contacts
- Preventive Maintenance (PM) program knowledge and ability to utilize a CMMS to manage the PM program (SAP preferred)
- Knowledge of work scheduling processes and tools, and their integration with work planning (PaSTA preferred)
- General purchasing process experience, including vendor contacts, services, and capabilities
- General knowledge of budgeting processes and its integration with work management (PowerSAM knowledge preferred – this is a specific NRG tool)
- Ability to create and update Intelex tasks, including legal requirements and permits (this is a specific NRG tool)
- Skilled in escalating vendor issues to supply chain and relaying performance information to ensure required support
- Proficient in creating and updating work orders for the shop and requesting third-party PO’s
- Gathers and updates production schedules and addresses cost variances in a timely manner
- Clear communication skills to relay product status directly to plants
Working Conditions
- Machine Shop Environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures, and high noise levels
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering shop work areas to access, inspect, or collect data on equipment
- Personal Protective Equipment (hearing protection, Safety Glasses, Gloves, Steel Toes, and proper shop attire, etc.) required
- Working around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials/chemicals, and overhead equipment
- Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
- Requires occasional travel
