Coordinator, Acquisitions - Sony Pictures Classics

Logistical and creative support to the EVP, Acquisitions, Production & Business Affairs and the entire Acquisitions/Production department at Sony Pictures Classics. Assess dozens to hundreds of projects annually at various stages of development and production, providing direct support to the Acquisitions & Production Research Analyst and Manager, Acquisitions.

Reporting Relationship

This role reports to the EVP, Acquisitions, Production & Business Affairs.

Responsibilities

  • Arranges meetings and calls for the EVP, Acquisitions, Production & Business Affairs and maintains a weekly schedule for the entire Acquisitions Department.
  • Interfaces with Sony Pictures Travel Department to arrange domestic and international business travel for the EVP, including film festivals, markets, and events.
  • Tracks expenses for the EVP, processes, and files electronic expense reports for business-related travel and local activities.
  • Oversees and maintains scheduling for the EVP and other senior executives for meetings and screenings at festivals and markets.
  • Arranges DCP screenings in the office and locally for the SPC Acquisitions team.
  • Coordinates with SPC Marketing, Sales, and Operations departments for scheduling and inter-departmental logistics.
  • Receives, logs, and organizes project submissions (scripts, works-in-progress, finished films) using Airtable; disseminates projects to executives and tracks company decisions.
  • Maintains Google Docs for the EVP and Co-Presidents with updated scripts, films, and materials for departmental discussion.
  • Researches background on submitted projects to assist in acquisitions consideration.
  • Reads scripts, watches films, and provides verbal and written coverage to the Acquisitions Team for material evaluation.
  • Collaborates with the Acquisitions & Production Research Analyst to track competitor theatrical releases and maintain VOD activity charts.

  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-moving, dynamic team; multitask and remain calm under pressure.
  • Takes direction well, executes quickly, and demonstrates initiative by anticipating needs and working proactively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, effective both in person and remotely.
  • Genuine passion for American and international film, with intellectual curiosity about global cultures and film’s role in reflecting and shaping them.
  • Confidence to articulate thoughtful opinions while remaining open to alternative perspectives and eager to learn business nuances.
  • Strong computer skills across PC and Mac platforms, with solid understanding of social media and the digital landscape.
  • Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

Pay

The anticipated base salary for this position is $27.17/hour to $31.24/hour. This role may also qualify for incentives and/or comprehensive benefits.
