Coolant Specialist

SUMMARY: The Coolant Specialist will work to support our sales team to grow sales, optimize processes and engineer the best possible coolant solutions for our customers. Working collaboratively with their colleagues, this individual has a focus on building strong customer relationships and their profitability to drive both the customer’s and the company’s success. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as a point of contact to qualify resolve coolant-related or coolant-impacted problems in manufacturing; seeks out new opportunities to provide a positive impact on manufacturing performance within customers.Works in partnership with the sales team (matrix support) to drive coolant performance within customer accounts, no direct account responsibilityInteract with multiple stakeholders including sales, customer service and the customerDrives sales, profit margin and the customer successBrings in internal partners and leverages their expertise; as well as the tools and resources needed Coordinate our vendors resources as required to resolve safety, quality, through put or cost issues related to coolantGenerate and implement productivity and cost savings ideas to reduce coolant costs Work with our Vendor Service Rep to ensure abnormal coolant issues and coolant availability does not interrupt productionPerform and document coolant trials using coolant test forms; as needed may perform quotingDevelop new systems to recondition and re-use coolant where economically feasibleAttend regularly scheduled operations and team problem solving meetings as neededSupport manufacturing in the resolution of coolant related issues such as high manufacturing costs, scrap rates and low production rates due to coolant related issuesRecommend optimized coolant processes and parametersIntroduce new coolant optionsProvide year-over-year coolant reduction plansCoordinate with maintenance/coolant team on proper coolant usageAdhere to customer safety requirements and customer coolant test proceduresComplete required cost savings / coolant test documentationReport and document non-conformances, Corrective Action Reports and continuous improvementsMake decisions within limits of general standards or proceduresOther duties as assignedReports to the Director of SalesTotal Compensation range $35 - $37 an hour SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years of industrial distribution experience; prior experience in coolant sales or manufacturing a plus; chemical engineering degree preferredExperience working in a machine shop environment; metalworking fluid experience preferredBuild and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers; building rapport and providing quick responses to inquiries.
