Cooking School Assistant

Summary: The Cooking School Assistant position at Montage International will support the Instructor, team members, and guests in a class setting, preparing and executing planned meals and curriculum.

• Support team and assist Instructor in carrying out lesson plan and overall curriculum.
• Classroom and food setup.
• Aid in food preparation, serving, and clearing.
• Cleaning of all equipment, tools, and supplies, maintaining equipment in good working order.
• Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company, division, and department.
• Work as a team and communicate effectively with management and service staff.

Qualifications

• Basic culinary knowledge.
• Two (2) years’ experience as a server/cocktail server preferred.
• Knowledge of sanitation practices, weights and measures, and various cooking techniques.
• Good attitude, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Comprehend the oral and verbal English language, read, measure, and execute recipes.
• Read and write in English proficiently, basic math skills, and ability to use a calculator.
• Must be 18 years of age and hold Tips and Food Handlers cards.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to bend, stoop, squat, stretch, lift up to 50 lbs., and walk for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity, grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, and climbing.

Pay Information

The pay scale for the Cooking School Assistant position is $9.25 per hour. This is the base salary or hourly wage range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and may include other factors. The position also has an additional compensation plan.
