About the role

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is California's fire department and resource management agency, with nearly 12,000 permanent and seasonal employees. The mission is to serve and safeguard the people and protect the property and resources of California. This position is based in San Diego County and is a permanent, full-time role.

Pay

$3,799.00 - $4,656.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Requirements

• Must pass a pre-employment Medical Evaluation and Tuberculosis Test.
• Medical Clearance is required prior to being hired.

Special Requirements

Temporary Authorization Unit (TAU) applicants are encouraged to apply. TAU appointments to this classification are made under temporary authorization regardless of eligibility. In accordance with the California State Constitution, no person may serve in one or more positions under a temporary appointment longer than 9 months in 12 consecutive months. An employee gains no status or rights as a result of the TAU appointment and has no reinstatement eligibility. To transition to a permanent appointment, eligibility must be obtained through an examination process.

• Individuals in the process of obtaining list eligibility or with SROA and/or Surplus eligibility (priority given to SROA/Surplus candidates).
