About the role

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois (LSSI) is hiring a part-time Cook at Shady Oaks. LSSI is a leading not-for-profit organization providing healing, justice, and wholeness to people and communities. This role involves preparing and serving meals to facility clients in accordance with menu plans, using standardized recipes and in accordance with clients' physician prescribed diets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals to facility clients in accordance with menu plans, using standardized recipes and in accordance with clients' physician prescribed diets.
• Follows menu plans, prepare a variety of high-quality food in specified quantities, using standardized recipes.
• Keeps work area clean and follows all sanitation guidelines.
• Performs all duties following safety guidelines and requirements in accordance with agency and regulatory standards.
• Stocks needed items; food, drinks, supplies etc.
• Follows meal plans/menus as determined by the food service manager or program director.
• Maintains inventory of food, equipment, and supplies in the kitchen area.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Ability to meet extensive physical requirements of the position.
• Ability to read & write English adequately to complete required documentation.
• Ability to communicate adequately with clients, families, & co-workers.
• Valid Driver's License; preferred but not required.
