About the role
Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC) is seeking Cooks to prepare and cook a variety of foods for residents.
Responsibilities
- Reviews menus to determine type and quantity of food to be prepared and plans cooking schedule to ensure foods are ready at prescribed times.
- Measures, mixes, cuts, grinds, chops, and seasons ingredients according to State recipes using hand and power kitchen utensils.
- Bakes, roasts, broils, fries, and steams food as specified in recipes.
- Observes and tastes food, adjusts seasoning, tests for doneness, and modifies heat controls as needed.
- Carves and portions food into individual servings and arranges for distribution via service trays or packing for separate dining areas.
- May supervise a small kitchen staff of Food Service Workers 1 and 2 by assigning tasks, directing cleaning, providing instructions, and overseeing performance.
Requirements
- Three years of experience in large-scale cooking.
