About the role

Part-time Cook position preparing, assembling baked goods, cooking, seasoning, and portioning food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors. Ensures adherence to food quality standards of appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Performs cleaning duties to maintain sanitation in cooking and serving areas, and handles labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality, safe food following menu and dietary requirements.
• Adhere to standardized recipes and Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food preparation, storage, and usage.
• Document HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes to ensure food safety.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, kettles, ovens, grills, deep fat fryers, knives, dishwashers, and refrigeration units.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in cooking and serving areas.
• Work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic culinary environment.
• Communicate effectively with internal customers and team members.
• Follow production sheets for daily and weekly menus.
• Fulfill annual continuing education requirements, including safety training and mandatory in-services.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
• Basic math skills for measuring and recipe comprehension.
• Minimum of six months of applicable experience preferred; on-the-job training provided.
• ServSafe certification may be required within a designated time frame, depending on location.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required depending on location.
• Valid driver’s license required for transporting food between facilities.
• Ability to stand for the majority of the day and walk long distances throughout the facility.

Pay

Salary range: $17.50 - $23.50 per hour.

Schedule

• Part-time: 29.25 hours per week.
• Includes every other weekend.
• Shift varies.
