About the role

This is an entry-level residential re-entry position in social services focused on food service management within a community-based program.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, requirements, and standards, following a licensed dietitian-approved menu schedule.
• Plan and prepare meals in compliance with dietitian-approved menus, providing advanced notification of any menu substitutions to the Director and residents.
• Manage food and kitchen operations, including inventory and ordering of food and equipment to ensure adequate supply and timely meal preparation.
• Maintain sanitary and safety standards, including cleanliness of the kitchen, serving and prep areas, dishes, utensils, and related equipment.
• Maintain required written records related to the food service operation.
• Stay knowledgeable of all procedures and policies, including the Statement of Work, Physical Plant, Operations Manuals, Emergency Drills, Life Safety, Facility Sanitation, and Escape and Unusual Occurrence Procedures.
• Work assigned schedule, including hours necessary to staff the center during work stoppages, and attend required appointments/meetings on-site, in the community, the court system, or other off-site locations.
• Perform moderately difficult tasks in preparing quantities of quickly prepared food, working independently.

Requirements

• At least two years of paid food service experience, with one year involving administrative duties such as food ordering, budget management, inspection planning and compliance, and equipment operations and repair.
• Demonstrated ability to cook, organize, and manage a food service operation within budgetary guidelines.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write reports and correspondence.
• Basic mathematical skills, including calculating proportions, percentages, and performing arithmetic operations.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and solve problems involving concrete variables.
• Obtain and retain CPR, First Aid, and Defensive Driving certifications during initial orientation, along with a valid driver's license with no restrictions.
• Possess and maintain current Food Certificates and Health Examination information as required by local and state Food Service Codes (e.g., Food Handler's Card and Annual Physical Exam).
• Proficient knowledge of Windows/XP operating systems, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and basic PC concepts (file management).
• Ability to operate standard office equipment such as calculators, telephones, fax machines, and copiers.
• Pass criminal background checks and have reliable transportation for job-related travel, including overnight travel if required.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, talk, hear, and taste or smell.
• Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• May be required to drive a company or personal vehicle for job-related duties.

Work Environment

• Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
• Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock.
• Moderate noise level in the work environment.

Pay

$22.84 per hour.

Schedule

Part-time, 20 hours per week (variable as needed). 1st Shift: 4:00 am - 9:00 am, Monday - Friday.
