About the role

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being. The Cook prepares and serves meals, and maintains kitchen and storage areas, all in accordance with the policies and standards of the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral and Community Health, the State Education Child Nutrition Program, and the Agency.

Responsibilities

The Cook prepares and serves meals, and maintains kitchen and storage areas in accordance with agency policies and standards.

Schedule

Monday‑Wednesday: 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm; Saturday‑Sunday: 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm; Thursday‑Friday: off.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid New York State driver’s license in good standing (as determined by the agency)
• Pass a pre‑employment physical, PPD and drug screen; annual physical and PPD required

Preferred qualifications:

• Formal education or certificates related to food preparation
• Baking skills
• Quantity food experience
• ServeSafe certification
