About the role
The Oregon State Hospital, a division of the Oregon Health Authority, seeks two Cooks to join an excellent team. The position supports the hospital's mission of supporting patient recovery and community reintegration in a safe environment.
Responsibilities
- Cook for up to 120 people per meal in an institutional setting.
- Prepare therapeutic diets and texture modifications as needed.
- Follow and apply food service policies and procedures.
- Obtain and maintain a food handler’s card within 30 days of hire.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Show basic knowledge of arithmetic.
- Hold a valid Oregon driver’s license.
Requirements
- One year of experience as a cook in a food service facility.
- Possession of a certificate of completion in culinary arts and/or food and hospitality service from a certified community college or technical school.
- To be hired, you must obtain a food handler’s card within 30 days of hire.
- Valid SERV Safe certification.
- Completion of the Marion County Advanced Food Management Principles and Concepts Training, including HACCP Certification, at the time of appointment.

- To be hired, you must have a criminal record, abuse, and driving record checks that meet OHA criteria at the time of hire and throughout employment.
Skills
- Experience cooking for 120 plus people per meal in an institutional setting.
- Experience cooking and preparing therapeutic diets and texture modifications.
- Experience following and applying food service policies and procedures.
- Valid SERV Safe certification.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and internet browsers.
- Basic knowledge of arithmetic.
- Valid Oregon driver’s license.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $3,798 - $5,193 per month. If the successful candidate qualifies for PERS, the salary range will increase by 6.95%.
