About the role

Performs a full range of simple cooking of items that require little to no processing and prepping foods by peeling, chopping, cutting, grinding, pureeing, dredging and etc. Operates and cleans a variety of different standard kitchen equipment that use multiple types of heat sources such as gas, electricity, steam and/or microwave. Maintains a clean workspace and follows established sanitation procedures when handling food. Ensures foods are properly cooked and stored at the correct temperatures to prevent the growth of bacteria. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Conditions of employment include Direct Deposit and Social Security Card, meeting qualification/eligibility/background requirements, and satisfactorily completing an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation/safety training within 30 days of employment, and minimum of 4 hours refresher training required annually. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2 to include a medical examination. Incumbent may be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to Federally controlled facilities. Must meet age requirement of 18 years or older at time of appointment. Must be able and willing to work a schedule that may include nights, weekends, and holidays. A physical and a health assessment are required.

Pay

This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
