About the role

Prepares, assembles baked goods, cooks, seasons and portions food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors of the designated facility, following menu and dietary requirements. Adheres to food quality standards of appearance, taste, temperature and sanitation. Performs washing and cleaning duties to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in cooking and serving areas. Maintains labeling and storage of food, equipment, and machinery. Works with internal customers, requiring strong communication and teamwork skills. Operates a variety of kitchen equipment and follows standardized recipes and HACCP guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve high-quality, safe food for patients/residents, staff, and visitors.
• Follow standardized recipes and Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food preparation, storage, and usage.
• Document HACCP steps, temperatures, and outcomes to ensure food safety.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers, ovens, grills, deep fat fryers, refrigerators, and dishwashers.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in cooking and serving areas.
• Work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic culinary environment.
• Perform basic math for measuring ingredients and follow oral and written directions.
• Stand for extended periods and walk throughout the facility.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of six months of applicable experience preferred; on-the-job training provided.
• Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions.
• Basic math skills for measuring ingredients.
• ServSafe certification may be required within a designated time frame, depending on location.
• Fulfill annual continuing education requirements, including safety education and mandatory in-services.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required depending on location.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on location.

Pay

Salary range: $16.00 - $23.50 per hour.

Schedule

• Part-time position with a weekly schedule of 20 hours.
• Shift varies; ideal hours are 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM.
