Job Duties

  • Assist the Food Service Supervisor
  • Provide support of the facility’s Child Nutrition Program
  • Ensure compliance with the Department’s Federal Child Nutrition Program regulations
  • Prepare nutritionally adequate meals meeting the federal Child Nutrition Program meal patterns
  • Maintain required records, reports, and inventories in compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Requisition food and supplies as needed
  • Maintain high standards of personal cleanliness as well as food sanitation
  • Interpret and follow standard recipes and prescribed menus as well as specific oral and written instructions
  • Check the cost and quality of items received and insure proper storage
  • Comply with policies and procedures of the Department
  • Assume any responsibilities as designated by the Youth Development Center Food Service Supervisor II, facility business officer, facility director, the Child Nutrition Program Administrator and Child Nutrition Program Administrative Officer

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities/Management Preferences

  • Knowledge of the methods of preparing different types of foods in large quantities
  • General knowledge of the Federal Child Nutrition Program
  • ServSafe Certification

Salary Range

NC01
Salary Range: 31,200-$46,991

Military Experience

Applicants seeking National Guard Preference: A current member of the North Carolina National Guard in good standing must attach a NGB 23A (RPAS).
