About the role
You will be part of the GARNI Cafe team preparing a casual French menu with fresh, flavorful, and colorful experiences. Your food knowledge will be put to the test as you prepare, cook, and garnish meals that are distinct by design, yet true to their place.
Responsibilities
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment while utilizing safe food preparation practices.
- Communicate effectively with all sorts of interesting people.
- Read recipes and follow measurement instructions accurately.
- Regularly taste, touch, and/or smell products utilizing appropriate methods to ensure quality and consistency.
- Possess sensory awareness and color perception as well as a distinctive palate and sense of depth to aid in the performance of the culinary arts.
- Show knowledge of Classical European, International, and World Cuisine, including philosophies and principles.
- Inspect presentation quality and expedite the line as needed.
- Work any station in the culinary area if required.
- Maintain workstation and equipment safety and cleanliness.
- Maintain walking coolers, freezer, and dry storage clean, organized, and in accordance with proper sanitary food conservation.
- Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager.
- Complete safety training and certifications.
- Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.
- Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information; protect company assets.
- Speak with others using clear and professional language.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others.
- Support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.
- Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards.
Qualifications
- Two years of culinary training or related kitchen experience.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, food products, and food service equipment.
- Food Handler certification required.
- Flexibility with workdays and hours.
- Able to read recipes and follow measurement instructions accurately.
- Strong interpersonal skills; a “people person” who loves to cook and knows kitchen safety and cleanliness.
