Cook I (Part-Time)

About the Role

The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long-term care facility in Hanson, Kentucky, committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. We are seeking a Cook to support our mission by preparing meals for our Veterans in a team-centered environment.

Responsibilities

• Performs general cooking duties.
• Mixes and cooks specialty dishes and delicate foods.
• Maintains records of food used and supplies on hand.
• Maintains dietary work areas, equipment, and utensils in a clean and sanitary condition.
• Ensures proper storage of food.

Requirements

• One year of cooking experience in an institutional or large-scale commercial setting.
• Vocational training in food service may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Pay

• Base hourly rate: $13.76
• Locality premium: $4.88 per hour
• Shift premiums (applied to base salary):
  • Second and third shift: 15%
  • Weekend: 25%
  • Holidays: 25%

Schedule

Part-time (less than 100 hours per month). Initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months.
