Summary
To assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of foods following state and federal guidelines at the NH Veterans Home.
Schedule
- Proposed Schedule Includes 5:30am - 2:00pm shifts
- Varying weekends (additional $2.00/hour)
Responsibilities
- Assists in training Food Service Workers
- Plans daily tasks assignments for food service workers
- Works with Food Service Director in planning new food delivery programs
- Sanitizes and cleans work surface areas after each task
- Assists in food preparation according to amounts needed; follows approved recipes and menus
- Cleans kitchen and cooking utensils; inspects cooking equipment for cleanliness and proper functional operation
Minimum Qualifications
- Education/Experience: 8th grade education
- License/Certification: None
Other Requirements
- Must be able and willing to wear a hairnet
- Must be able and willing to adhere to all hygiene-related standards for the food industry
- Ability to work while standing and under conditions of high temperature and humidity
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
- Knowledge of the methods, materials and practices of large-scale food preparation, food service and related activities including health hazards in food service and the necessary precautionary measures
- Knowledge of the care and use of food service implements and equipment
- Ability to read and follow recipes and special directions
- Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments
Pay
$14.40 - $18.46 hourly
