Summary

To assist in the preparation and cooking of a variety of foods following state and federal guidelines at the NH Veterans Home.

Schedule

• Proposed Schedule Includes 5:30am - 2:00pm shifts
• Varying weekends (additional $2.00/hour)

Responsibilities

• Assists in training Food Service Workers
• Plans daily tasks assignments for food service workers
• Works with Food Service Director in planning new food delivery programs
• Sanitizes and cleans work surface areas after each task
• Assists in food preparation according to amounts needed; follows approved recipes and menus
• Cleans kitchen and cooking utensils; inspects cooking equipment for cleanliness and proper functional operation

Minimum Qualifications

• Education/Experience: 8th grade education
• License/Certification: None

Other Requirements

• Must be able and willing to wear a hairnet
• Must be able and willing to adhere to all hygiene-related standards for the food industry
• Ability to work while standing and under conditions of high temperature and humidity

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
• Knowledge of the methods, materials and practices of large-scale food preparation, food service and related activities including health hazards in food service and the necessary precautionary measures
• Knowledge of the care and use of food service implements and equipment
• Ability to read and follow recipes and special directions
• Ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing and scheduling work assignments

Pay

$14.40 - $18.46 hourly
