The Food Service Worker/Cook prepares and serves food in accordance with contract requirements, food safety standards, and established recipes. This role supports daily kitchen operations and ensures a clean, safe, and efficient food service environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare food items according to standardized recipes and production requirements
- Follow Army Food Management Information System (AFMIS) recipes and guidelines
- Perform duties in accordance with contract Performance Work Statement (PWS)
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of workstations and kitchen areas
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
- Complete ServSafe certification as required
- Work collaboratively with team members and maintain positive customer interactions
- Participate in trainings and meetings
- Follow all company policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of cooking, food preparation, and knife handling
- Understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
- Previous experience in food service, prep, or line cooking preferred
- Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to communicate effectively in English for safety and job performance
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable vehicle and current insurance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in high-volume or institutional food service
- Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
- ServSafe certification (or ability to obtain)
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly
- Ability to work in hot and cold kitchen environments
Work Environment
- Exposure to heat, cold, and kitchen equipment
- Loud noise levels typical of commercial kitchens
