About the role
Under supervision, prepares and cooks food.
Responsibilities
- Reviews menus daily to determine quantities of food and supplies needed.
- Prepares food for cafeteria, patient food service and catering using creativity, quality, consistency, and promptness.
- Follows and complies with recipe standards.
- Maintains cleanliness and monitors and replenishes food as needed for cafeteria, catering, or patient trays.
- Ensures food is being handled and stored to Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines.
- Operates various types of kitchen equipment and maintains cleanliness.
- Records temperatures of refrigerators.
- Ensures equipment is in good working condition.
- Promotes mission, vision, and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- One (1) year food service experience in a healthcare facility, such as health care food service is preferred.
- Minimum 6 months experience in food preparation, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

- Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.
- Hazardous Analysis of Critical Control Point (HACCP) training to be obtained after hire.
- Ability to follow a recipe and scale.

- Interacts with others by effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.
- Operates computers and other office equipment requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
- Sits or stands for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
- May require lifting and transporting objects and office supplies, bending, kneeling and reaching.

Pay
The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. $16.90 - $23.76
