Located across the street from The Mall at Short Hills, the Hilton Short Hills features locally sourced food, an outdoor terrace and lounge, tennis courts, and an indoor/outdoor pool to offer a memorable and enjoyable experience to our guests.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant and banquets setting.
• Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards, per check from servers.
• Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, ensuring not to over-prepare estimated needs.
• Date all food containers and rotate as per Crescent standards, ensuring all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
• Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull, and line set-up. Note any out-of-stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping the buffet stocked.
• Return all unused food items to designated storage areas, covering and dating all perishables.
• Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss, and usage per Crescent standards.
• Operate, maintain, and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven, steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron, and flat-top grill.

Requirements

• At least one year of experience as a line cook in a hotel, preferably in banquets.
• Ability to obtain food handlers certification.
• Able to stand for long periods of time.
• Upscale dining experience is a plus.
• Keen eye for detail and high-quality standards in your work.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, and weekends.
