Cook Helper

Reports to: Kitchen Supervisor. Union: MSEA.

About the role

Perform routine food service activities related to food preparation, serving, and cleanup in a school cafeteria.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks food service items
• Assists in serving meals
• Assists in setting up and stocking food preparation and service lines
• Performs cleanup duties as directed
• Maintains strict standards of sanitation keeping the kitchen safe and in a clean and orderly condition
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Excellent multitasking ability to assist other kitchen staff positions
• Familiarity with common kitchen utensils and commercial equipment
• Knowledge of best practices for kitchen safety and sanitation
• Basic kitchen skills, such as experience chopping, dicing, frying, following a recipe and measuring ingredients accurately
• Ability to lift, carry, push and pull heavy containers of food and materials up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to interact positively within the school district and community
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Pay

$16.93–$26.48 per hour.

Schedule

4-hour shift on student contact days according to the District School Calendar.
