About the Role
Serves as an assistant to the Food Services department, supporting daily operations to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient environment for food preparation, storage, and service.
Responsibilities
- Keeps all equipment used in the preparation, storage, and serving of food in sanitary condition.
- Maintains cleanliness and order in storerooms, walk-in refrigerators, and freezers.
- Sets up the dish room and dishwashing machine before each meal.
- Washes worktables, walls, refrigerators, and meat blocks.
- Scrapes food from dirty dishes and loads them into racks or onto the conveyor for the dishwashing machine.
- Washes pots, pans, and trays.
- Sweeps, mops, and waxes cafeteria and kitchen floors.
- Removes trash and garbage, placing it in designated containers.
- Steam cleans or hoses out garbage cans.
- Sets up dining room tables.
- Keeps the service line stocked with dishes, silverware, glasses, milk, food, and other supplies during service times.
- Prepares and serves food as requested, following pre-planned menus.
- Clearly communicates and models appropriate CSS and employability skills.
- Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property.
- Adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
- Fosters a conducive, harassment-free environment at the center, ensuring a safe space for staff and students.
- Attends all required staff training opportunities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Six months of related experience preferred.
- Experience working with youth.
- Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
