Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares nutritious meals that consider child’s various cultures and individual nutritional needs.
  • Understands and strictly adheres to health, safety, food handling, and sanitation requirements before, during, and after meal preparation.
  • Follows menu guidelines and adjusts when necessary, due to availability of menu items or an individual child's needs.
  • Prepares assigned menu and participates in family-style meals with children, volunteers, and staff.
  • Maintains food service and record-keeping and reporting as directed by supervisor.
  • Cooks according to USDA guidelines and child nutritional needs.
  • Prepares alternative menu items as needed for affected children.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • An equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for this position.
  • SerSafe Certification or obtain such certification within 3 months.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Performs any and all other duties (or functions) as assigned.
