About the role
The Cook is a vital member of the Dunwoody Behavioral Healthcare System of Care, reporting to the Head Chef. You will prepare meals for clients at our residential location, ensuring quality dishes are served on schedule. Responsibilities include creating menus, ordering supplies, and adhering to dietary guidelines and health regulations.
Schedule
Full-time, flexible schedule including weekends. Shifts available:
- Morning: 6:30am - 2:30pm (hours can be flexible)
- Afternoon/Evening: 11:00am - 7:00pm
Pay
$18 - $19/hour
Responsibilities
- Follow all Board of Health requirements and Georgia state guidelines
- Obtain and maintain Certified Food Handler compliance
- Ensure all menus are approved and signed by the location dietician
- Follow nutrition requirements and portion sizes
- Create and post updated menus for clients
- Ensure breakfast items are stocked and prepared
- Monitor and document food temperatures in the log book
- Ensure refrigerator and freezer temperatures meet requirements and are documented
- Sanitize refrigerator and freezer; discard expired products
- Check dry good storage for expired products
- Secure all inventory in a locked storage area
- Thoroughly clean kitchen and appliances daily
- Practice ethics and boundaries with clients
- Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately
- Prepare meals following dietary guidelines, modifications, and restrictions per client’s needs
- Apply culinary cooking techniques, nutrition and diet therapy knowledge, and food/sanitation safety
- Control food waste and ensure proper time/temperature for food preparation and storage
- Operate commercial kitchen equipment
- Prepare batch scratch food
- Wear slip-resistant and closed-toe shoes
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2+ years of culinary experience
- ServSafe Certification
