Cook - Full Time

Duties And Responsibilities

• Cleans, cuts, prepares, and cooks meat, fish, or poultry to a safe temperature.
• Prepares and cooks various items according to menus, special dietary or nutritional requirements, or numbers of portions to be served.
• Bakes breads, rolls, and pastries.
• Portions and serves food to residents, guests and team members.
• Washes cooking equipment such as pots, pans, dishes, utensils, and other pieces.
• Inventories supplies and equipment.
• Determines, or assists in determining meals and menus.
• Ensures the cleanliness and functional operation of galley equipment, kitchen appliances, and work areas by routinely cleaning and inspecting each piece.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook.
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Basic understanding of food handling techniques, preparation, and cooking procedures.
• Must be able to work quickly and efficiently.
• Must be able to work well as part of a team.
• Must be able to work well under pressure.
• Able to maintain personal cleanliness.
• Culinary school diploma preferred.

Working Conditions

• This position works in a fast-paced kitchen with exposure to heat, flames, cold temperatures, slippery floors and sharp cooking tools.
• The Cook may work in close contact with others.
• The Cook must comply with food safety regulations, which include appropriate clothing and protective gear such as hairnets, masks, disposable gloves and slip-resistant shoes.
