Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook food according to standardized recipes.
- Cook hot breakfast items, entrées, vegetables, soups, and sandwiches.
- Perform roasting, baking, broiling, frying, and other food preparation tasks.
- Slice meats and cheeses and portion ingredients.
- Oversee food production operations when serving as Chef on Duty.
- Ensure sanitation, food safety, and HACCP compliance.
- Train and mentor new staff.
- Manage inventory, place vendor orders, track deliveries, and process invoices.
- Maintain clean and sanitary kitchen, storage, and serving areas.
- Monitor food quality, appearance, texture, and temperatures.
- Report equipment issues and assist with tray-line setup.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Culinary School diploma or equivalent culinary training.
- 2+ years of hot food production/cooking experience.
- 1+ year of cold food preparation experience.
- 1+ year of volume cooking experience.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of large-volume production cooking experience.
- Experience training, supervising, or directing kitchen staff.
- Inventory control and vendor ordering experience.
- Experience in commercial, healthcare, institutional, or high-volume food service environments.
